riversong
wind blown from autumn trees
a stream of gold                                 (JR)

  gathers at my feet
in eddies to be waded                    (JPR)

leaf-splash
rising at sunset
the sound of waves

   coaxing the traveler
   out of the dunes

counting dolphins
… then darkness …
[take my hand]

   sand and sweat
   under the Pleaides

a last kiss
among the tall grasses
cricket and katydid

   singing slowly
   from the banks of autumn

.
